Palanchowk Bhagwati temple


One of the famous old hindu temple Palanchowk Bhagwati temple  is known as the Goddess of  Durga, lies at the kavrepalanchowk  in Nepal.  This is historic temple of Goddess Bhagawati is located at a hilltop some 10-km north of Panchkhal. It is believed to have been built in during the region of king Man Dev, Lichhavi king. The temple houses a three feet high idol of Goddess Bhagawati (Kali) artistically carved in black stone, which is so attractive and rich in art and craft.

 It drives from Katmandu to Palanchowk Bhagawati temple, 55 km three hour on the Arniko Highway.  From there visitors can enjoy magnificent Himalaya view. It is believed that the Palanchowk Bhagawati, Naxal Bhagawati (in Kathmandu) and Shobha Bhagawati (in Kathmandu) are sisters and Palanchowk Bhagawati. It is very popular for the local people of Kathmandu, both Hindu and Buddhist.  There is big sacrifice and festivals in dashain.
This temple is also said to be a secret and rare Matangi  temple. Matangi is also known as one of the das Mahabidya. There is ten important goddess shaakti which is known as das Mahabidya.
