Khao Yai National Park, some 3 hours northeast of Bangkok consists of moist evergreen forest, mixed deciduous forest, and dry evergreen forest. With 350 bird species, the park offers some of Thailand’s best bird watching opportunities. Birds of note include four species of hornbills (Brown, Wreathed, Pied, Great), chestnut-capped Babbler, coral-billed ground cuckoo, Siamese Fireback to mention just a few. Also home to a range of other widlife, you will most likely see mammals such as deer, monkeys and maybe elephant on your stay in the park.

Day 1:Depart your Bangkok hotel at 0600 for the 2-hours tranfer by private vehicle to Khao Yai National Park. Breakfast enroute before heading out to Khao Khieo mountain, an area dominated by hill evergreen forest above1,000 m. After lunch, set out on a roadside birding tour in the area of the headquarters and take a short easy walk through the grassland habitat of Nong Phak Chi for birding and on the lookout for some of the other wildllife that inhabits the park. Possible sightings include Wild Dog, Sambar Deer, Stock billed-Kingfisher, Bright-capped Cisticola, Hill Myna and Wreathed Hornbill. After dinner, we head out on a nighttime spotlighting trip on the look out for deer, civet, porcupine, slow loris and possibly elephant.

Day 2:Spend a whole day birding in some of Khao Yai’s best evergreen forest. Look out for Red-headed Trogon, Slaty-backed Forktail, Blue Pitta, Greater Flameback, Dusky Broadbill, Banded Broadbill, Blue-winged Leafbird, Green Magpie, White-crested Laughingthrush and many more. In the late afternoon, head to a limestone cave just outside the park to witness Millions of Wrinkle-lipped Bats stream out to start their nocturnal foraging,some different species of raptors can be recorded at the location.

Day 3: Following a full morning of great birding, depart the park at approximately 1600 for the transfer back to Bangkok. Arrive back at your hotel or airport at approximately 1900
