Rato Machhendranath Temple


Rato Machhendranath Temple is famous temple in kathmandu valley. Bungamati is a traditional Newari town located near the Bagmati river, 10 Km from the capital city Kathmandu. It dates back to the 16th century. The Rato Machhendranath  is regarded as the patron guardian of the valley, birthplace is known as  Bungamati. There is a shikhar-styled  temple in the middle of the village square. He spends six months a year in this temple and the other six months in the Rato Machhendranath Temple in Patan. Both of religious people respect to him or her.
The courtyard around the temple has a large prayer wheel and many chortens (Tibetan Buddhist stupa). When the compassion god of Rato Machhendranath moves to and from Patan and Bungamati is on of the biggest festivals of the year.
