Dear Community Members,

We, the members of the Election Committee, would like to inform all interested parties that an Election Committee has been established by the current executive committee in order to conduct an election for the new executive committee of the International Nepali Literary Society-DC Metro Chapter for the years 2013-2015.

We are hereby notifying all qualified members of the INLS DC Metro Chapter interested in contesting the election to submit their candidacy to the Election Committee as per the instructions below. All INLS-DC Metro Chapter members whose membership is active as of March 17, 2013 are eligible, and encouraged, to vote in this election.

The election will be held on March 17, 2013, from 3:30 – 4:30pm in the Arlington Central Library Auditorium, Arlington, Virginia.

· The following positions (in the INLS-DC Metro Chapter) are open and subject to a contest:
o President
o Vice-President
o General-Secretary
o Secretary
o Treasurer

· To be eligible to run for any of the open positions, all candidates must meet the following qualifications:

o Be an active member (as of February 15, 2013) of the INLS DC Metro Chapter or the INLS Headquarters
o Be a resident of the DC Metro area (which includes parts of Virginia and Maryland)

· All interested candidates should send their petition, along with a non-refundable filing fee of $25 payable to INLS-DC Metro Chapter to theChair of the Election Committee in the following address: PO BOX 100194, Arlington, VA 22210,
Email: khembhattachan@gmail.com The filing fee will be used for covering the expenses incurred in conducting this election,
and, in case of any unused funds, will be handed over to the newly elected executive committee.

· The Election Committee has decided on the following timeline for this election:

o DEADLINE TO SUBMIT CANDIDACY FOR ALL POSITIONS: February 15, 2013

o DEADLINE TO WITHDRAW CANDIDACY: February 16, 2013

o CANDIDATES’ LIST DISCLOSER: February 17, 2013

o COMPLAINT OVER ANY CANDIDACY: February 18, 2013
o CANDIDATES’ FINAL LIST DISCLOSER: February 18, 2013
o If the election is uncontested, then the results will be announced on February 18, 2013
o If the election is contested, then the election will be held on March 17, 2013, from 3:30 to 4:30pm.

· Venue for Voting: Arlington Central Library Auditorium, 1015 N Quincy St, Arlington VA 22201

The election will be conducted in accordance with the By-Laws of INLS, and, in any case, will be conducted in a free, fair, and democratic manner.

The Election Committee would like to thank the INLS DC Metro Chapter’s current executive committee for trusting it with the responsibility to conduct this election.
