The government is planning to develop a wildlife park and recreation centre at Surya Binayak in Bhaktapur.
According to RSS, a proposal on this has already been forwarded to the Council of Ministers for decision, the Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation stated.
Various community forests at Gundu, Sipadol and Katunje VDCs in Bhaktapur covering an area of 293.6 hectares has been proposed for the establishment of the wildlife park and recreation centre.
The decision comes after the revelation made by the planning and human resources division at the Ministry that it has brought a proposal for planting about 7.9 million saplings in other places of the country to make up for the number of trees cut down. As per the international standard, 39 percent of the total area of the country should be forested area.
The Ministry is also preparing an action plan for implementation of scientific forestry management from the coming year. The action plan will be piloted in Morang, Mahottari, Rautahat, Rupandehi, Kapilbastu and Kailali districts
