Govt opens subsidised Dashain market

The government has started “Dashain market” in various places in Kathmandu Valley in a bid to provide the daily commodities at subsidised rates to the public from Tuesday.
The government has opened the market in Kathmandu, Laitpur and Bhaktapur districts at places like Kalimati, Koteshwor, Thapathali, Teku and Ramshah Path The shops have been opened as pledged by the government to provide daily commodities at cheaper rates during the festival season.
The Nepal Food Corporation (NFC) in collaboration with National Trading Limited (NTL), Salt Trading Limited (STC) and Nepal Dairy Development Corporation started 'Dashain bazaar' focusing the festive season. By offering goods at reasonable rates from these shops, the authorities also aim to check black-marketing.
General manager of NTL Parmila Yadav said the customers can get quality commodities at subsidised rates.
Earlier, the government had also fixed the Maximum Retail Prices (MRPs) of 15 basic commodities to facilitate the customers. As per the decision, customers are getting 2 percent discount in consumable daily commodities effective from September 14.
Similarly, the government had also lowered the price by Rs. 1 to 13 per kg in the 15 food items.
