TIMS fee for SAARC tourists lowered

In a bid to attract more trekkers from the South Asia region, Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) and Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) have decided to lower TIMS fee for SAARC tourists with effect from October 14.
The two associations signed a revised Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect on September 13.
As per the new agreement, FITs from SAARC region can get TIMS card by paying US $6 per trekker while organized trekkers from the region get TIMS card by paying $3 per trekker. The rates are inclusive of VAT.
Earlier, FITs and organized trekkers from the SAARC region were required to pay $20 and $10 per trekker, respectively.
TAAN hopes that the new TIMS rates would encourage tourists from the South Asia region to enjoy trekking activities in Nepal.
