Kathmandu Durbar Square is known as  Basantapur Durbar Square or locally Hanuman Dhoka.
In particularly, three Durbar Squares is in the Kathmandu Valley, belonging to the three kingdoms situated there before unification, are most famous.Kathmandu Durbar Square is the plaza in front of the old royal palace of the Kathmandu Kingdom.The Durbar square, with its old temples and places, epitomizes the religious and cultural life of people.

Kathmandu Durbar Square is listed in UNESCO World  Heritage Monument list in 1979 AD.It is the place where the kings of Nepal are crowned and their coronation solemnized.It brings you  an architectural delight dating back to 14 century.It is one of the famouse sight seeing spot for the wood carving, palaces ,stupas,ancient temples.Interesting things to see her are Taleju Temple built by Mahendra Mall in 1549 AD, the temple of Kal Bhairav, the god of destruction, Nautalle Durbar, Coronation Nasal Chowk, the Gaddi Baithak, the statue of King Pratap Mall, the Big Drum, the Jagannath temple and  Kasthmandap. 


The interesting things to see here are: the ferocious Kal Bhairav, Nautalle Durbar Square, Coronation Nasal Chowk, the Gaddi Baithak, The statue of King Pratap Malla, the big Drum and the Jagannath Temple.
There is also the Numismatic Museum and Tribhuvan Museum inside the place building. Photography is prohibited inside the museum.
