October 05, 2012
A 59-year-old woman has fallen ill after receiving "DC - CIK" treatment in the DR beauty centre.
The Department of Health said she received the therapy on September 29 and was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital today. She is stable.
The department said 44 people have received the treatment at DR.
Other than the three patients who remain in critical condition, the department has so far contacted 35 of the remaining 41 people who received the treatment.
Officers from the department, the Government Laboratory, and Police today collected samples from the laboratory which processed the blood mixture for the procedure, for further analysis.
The treatment involves concentration and processing of blood taken from a person, and infusion of the mixture back into the patient.
People who have received the therapy should call the department's hotline 2125 1133 for more information.
