Rani pokhari in Kathmandu

Rani pokhari is famous pond at Jamal in Kathmandu. It means Queen's pond. It was built by during the reign of King Pratap Malla in memory of son Chackrawotendra.. It was a token of consolation to his wife, drowned in sorrow of their son's death.  pond with a temple of Shiva in the middle. Everey year, it is celebrated Ranipokhari lies in the heart of Kathmandu, within a 10-15 minutes walk from Kathmandu Durbar Square. The square-shaped pond is opened one time a year during Bhai tika, the fifth and final day of Tihar. The festival of brother and sister.
