We are pleased to invite you to the Walk for Nepal 2013 Launch Meeting on Sunday, February 17, 2013, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., at the Himalayan Heritage Restaurant. Walk for Nepal is a common platform for Nepalese and friends in giving back together to critical social causes in Nepal through walkathons organized in cities around the world.  In the last two years, Walk for Nepal events in Boston, Dallas and New York have successfully brought the Nepali diaspora and friends of Nepal together to support more than twenty nonprofits and youth initiatives.  WfN-DC, a continuation of this inspiring tradition and this year, WfN-DC will kick off the campaign for 2013.  We are looking forward to your participation in this important launch meeting. 

WfN-DC aims to strengthen collaboration among individuals, DC metro communities, volunteer groups and other organizations concerned about issues in Nepal.  We believe our collective voices and actions are key to a lasting impact of this initiative.  WfN-DC is organized by a local leadership team comprised of the Gorkhaly Foundation, Committed Nepal, Global Nepal Fest, and a group of dedicated volunteers, and administered by Nepal ko Yuwa, which is registered as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.  In Nepal, we partner with Association of Youth Organizations Nepal (AYON) to support youth innovation projects through Walk for Nepal.

The WfN-DC event will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2013 along the Jefferson Memorial Area from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.  The participating NGOs are as follows:

This February WfN Launch Meeting will be an opportunity for us to present the Walk for Nepal model to you.  It will include presentation of collaborative agreements between Walk for Nepal and beneficiary NGOs.  We will also be announcing the winners of Youth Innovation Fund.  Your participation in this meeting is crucial for the success of WfN-DC.
