Women climbers honored in Pokhara

POKHARA: The four women who scaled Mt Annapurna IV were honoured and congratulated on Friday.

A function was organised in Pokhara today by Nepal Women Annapurna Climbing Coordination Committee where Nirma Rai, Munu Gurung, Saraswoti BK and Shantikala Rai were feted. The four had climbed Mt Annapurna on May 31.

Minister for Environment Sunil Kumar Manadhar and representatives of several organizations honoured them by offering shawl and appreciation letters.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Manadhar congratulated the four women climbers for successfully scaling Annapurna. He stressed the need for attracting tourists by saving mountains from the effects of climate change.
