Taipei, Aug. 17 (CNA) Food lovers will have a chance to sample Taiwan's traditional cuisine at a four-day culinary exposition that opened Friday at the Taipei World Trade Center, the organizers said.

The 23rd annual Taiwan Culinary Exhibition features gourmet dishes dating back to the 17th century, prepared and displayed as was done during that period, the organizers said.

"The highlight of the show is traditional Taiwanese food from Tainan City, Lukang Township in Chunghua County and Wanhua District in Taipei City," said project manager Lu Chiao-yun.

The three areas, all former administrative cities, are known for their rich cultural heritage.

At the expo, more than 100 delicacies from across the country are on display, Lu said.

There are also several family-fun activities, such as making flour miniatures and participating in ancient tricycle demonstration, Lu said.

More than 170,000 people are expected to visit the exhibition during the four-day period, according to Lu.
