KUALA LUMPUR: A 24-year-old trader who allegedly recorded a 16-year-old girl taking a shower using his camera phone was caught after he tried to retrieve the device from the victim at her house in Hiliran Ampang people’s housing project in Jalan Ampang Putra, Cheras on Wednesday.
Sources said the drama unfolded at noon when the girl was in the shower and spotted the handphone which was placed near the broken window.
The girl, who was home alone at the time, was shocked when she saw the handphone's content.
She immediately informed her mother, who then rushed home.
Not long after that, someone came to the girl’s flat unit and asked her to return the handphone.
A police team was deployed to the scene and arrested the suspect.
Sources said the suspect who lived at the other block also tested positive for drugs.
Cheras police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohan Singh Tara Singh said the suspect has been remanded and is being investigated under Section 447 of the Penal Code for trespassing and Section 509 of the Penal Code for word or gesture intended to insult the modesty of a person.
Mohan said the handphone has been sent to the forensics unit for investigation purposes.
