Manakamana Devi

Annapurna Base Camp trekking, Trekking In Nepal

The famous temple  Manakamana devi lies Gorkha district,on the way to Prthivi highway. It  located on a prominent ridge (1302 mt. above sea level) overlooking the river valleys of Trisuli (south) and Marsyangdi (west). It takes 15 mintues from Kurintar by cable car.TPeople believe Manakamana Devi fulfills the wishes of her devotees, thus called the wish fulfilling deity. The temple was built nearly 250 years ago during the reign of Late King Rajendra Bir Bikram Shah and the area offers opportunities to make some side trips to nearby villages and pristine forests that are relatively unexplored.
The temple can also be reached via the small town of Abu Khaireni at the point along Prithivi Highway, past bustling bazaar of Mugling. But for that the travelers are required to trek for three to four hours, which is an extremely worthwhile experience as you pass through interesting villages overlooking the Marshyangdi River.
