JOHOR BARU: A car salesman and his wife claimed trial at the Sessions Court yesterday to abusing their Indonesian maid.
Mohd Shukur Suradi, 28, and his wife Daeng Norulasyikin Bachok, 27, who is a school teacher, however, pleaded guilty to another charge of human trafficking.
The couple were jointly charged with intentionally causing injuries to their maid, Marsini, 21, by using a knife, a golf stick, a hanger, a belt, hot water, hot oil, hot ladle and a hot spoon. They allegedly committed the offence at their home at Taman D Utama in Perling between July and Sept 23.
The couple were also jointly charged with trafficking Marsini by forcing her to work as a maid at their home during the same period.
Judge Zamri Bakar fixed Oct 16 for mention.
Both the accused were represented by Wan Azmir Wan Majid while deputy public prosecutors Chuah Shyue Chien, Jasnee Hameeza Jaafar and Norasyikin Ibrahim appeared for the prosecution.
